Interview with Sofia Carson and Corey Mylchreest on My Oxford Year

In a recent interview with ComingSoon, Sofia Carson and Corey Mylchreest, stars of the Netflix romance film My Oxford Year, discussed their memorable rain kiss, the film’s poetic elements, and more. Directed by Iain Morris, the movie is currently available for streaming on Netflix.

About the Film

The synopsis reads: “When Anna (Sofia Carson), an ambitious young American woman, sets out for Oxford University to fulfill a childhood dream, her life is perfectly planned until she meets a charming local (Corey Mylchreest) who changes everything.”

Exploring Art and Joy

Tyler Treese: Sofia, poetry plays a significant role in this film. How does your character use art to navigate life’s challenges?

Sofia Carson: That’s a profound question. One of the most beautiful aspects of Anna and Jamie’s love story is how they find joy and cope with life’s difficulties through art. Anna believes that to live deliberately means planning every moment, but through her journey, she learns that true joy comes from being present and embracing every moment, even the imperfect ones.

Coldplay Cover and Singing Talent

Corey, your timing with the Coldplay cover coinciding with the film’s release is perfect. What’s your real singing talent like?

Corey Mylchreest: I’m not a great singer, but I can hold a tune. The intention was to portray a character who isn’t the best singer, which made it a fun challenge.

Wonder Woman Aspirations

Sofia, you don a Wonder Woman costume in this film. Are you interested in playing that role?

Sofia Carson: I’ve always loved Wonder Woman and would love the opportunity to portray her or any related character. It’s a powerful role.

Filming in the Rain

Corey, how was it filming that romantic rain scene?

Corey Mylchreest: It wasn’t miserable, but it was quite cold. Filming in the rain for several hours can be challenging, but it was worth it for such a beautiful moment.

Thanks to Sofia Carson and Corey Mylchreest for sharing their insights about My Oxford Year.
