Jurassic World Rebirth: T-Rex Look Changes Explained

Jurassic World Rebirth has made significant changes to the iconic T-Rex, and in this article, we explore those transformations and the creative decisions behind them.

ComingSoon is unveiling an exclusive look at one of the behind-the-scenes featurettes from the upcoming home release of Jurassic World Rebirth, now available digitally from participating retailers.

How Did Jurassic World Rebirth Change the T-Rex’s Look?

In the clip from the behind-the-scenes featurette “Hatching a New Era,” Visual Effects Supervisor and 2nd Unit Director David Vickery discusses the changes made to the iconic dinosaur. Since the T-Rex in Jurassic World Rebirth differs from those in previous “Jurassic” films, it has been simplified slightly.

According to Gareth Edwards, the T-Rex in Jurassic World Rebirth features additional scales around its teeth and a more “simplistic” appearance, reflecting scientific beliefs about the actual appearance of T-Rex. The featurette also reveals how they executed the thrilling scene of the T-Rex pursuing a group through a river.

“A new era is born. A covert extraction team races to the most dangerous place on Earth, an island research facility where dinosaurs too deadly for the original Jurassic Park were left behind,” reads the film’s official synopsis. “Their mission: collect DNA from three colossal creatures to unlock a drug with immense benefits for humanity. In a perilous terrain, they will uncover a shocking discovery hidden for years.”

Jurassic World Rebirth is available for purchase or rental at home via participating retailers. The film will also be released on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD on September 9, 2025.
