Excitement About Joining Mission: Impossible
The synopsis for the movie reads, “Our lives are the sum of our choices. Tom Cruise is Ethan Hunt in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.” This film is now available on Digital.
Brandon Schreur: Holt, you’ve been in numerous spy and espionage films throughout your career. You were recently in The Amateur, and you previously worked with Tom Cruise on Jack Reacher: Never Go Back. What excited you most about joining the Mission: Impossible franchise?
Holt McCallany: The fact that it’s one of the most iconic and successful franchises in film history, spanning nearly three decades, was thrilling. Knowing that this was titled The Final Reckoning made it even more special for me.
I have a fantastic relationship with Christopher McQuarrie. When he offered me the role, we talked for about an hour. He said, ‘Holt, trust me. You’re going to have a great experience.’ His enthusiasm was contagious, and I was excited to be part of this project.
Collaborating with Talented Co-Stars
Oh, totally. I couldn’t agree more. The conversations around Mission: Impossible 8 often highlight the stunts and action scenes, but I found the interactions between you, Nick Offerman, and Angela Bassett fascinating, especially during the bunker scenes discussing nuclear weapons.

Angela is fabulous, and Nick is a tremendously gifted actor who brought depth to his character. We all felt fortunate to be working together, and I think Chris and Tom carefully selected the cast to ensure a unique blend of talents.
Christopher likes to do many takes and explore different angles, which I find enjoyable. This approach allows us to discover and refine our performances, making our scenes even better.
Thanks to Holt McCallany for discussing Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning.
