All the Predator Movies, Ranked
How long do you think you’d last against a Predator in the wild? And what kind of weapon would you bring to defend yourself?
These are the questions I ask myself as I view the new trailer for the upcoming Predator: Badlands.
Today, I want to go over all the other Predator movies and put out a ranking of them.
Let’s dive in.
1. Predator (1987)
The original and still the reigning champion, you can’t really unseat John McTiernan’s masterclass in action and suspense.
“If it bleeds, we can kill it.”
The movie follows a simple mission for an elite paramilitary team, led by the indomitable Major Alan “Dutch” Schaefer (Arnold Schwarzenegger). They descend into a desperate fight for survival against an unseen, technologically advanced alien hunter.
The film’s blend of practical effects, one-liners, and sense of dread cements its status as a sci-fi action classic.
2. Prey
Man, this movie was great! It breathed new life into the franchise by transporting the hunt to the Northern Great Plains in 1719. Amber Midthunder delivers a powerful performance as Naru, a young Comanche woman whose tracking skills and warrior spirit make her a worthy adversary for a feral, less-polished Predator.
Director Dan Trachtenberg crafts a visceral film that honors the core concept of the original while offering a fresh perspective.
3. Predator: Killer of Killers (2025)
An animated dive into the world of Predator that does some really cool worldbuilding and time jumping.
The film explores three distinct historical encounters with the Predators, offering a unique and expansive look at the creatures’ long history of hunting on Earth.

4. Predator 2
I love the opening shot of the jungle becoming Los Angeles; it’s such a good transition and setup.
Danny Glover steps into the lead role as LAPD Lieutenant Mike Harrigan, who finds himself in the middle of a gang war and the extraterrestrial hunter’s latest safari. I really like watching this movie; it’s a fun genre mashup.
5. The Predator
Shane Black, who played Hawkins in the original film, returns to the franchise as director and co-writer of this chaotic installment that takes us into the suburbs as some hostile mercs chase down a predator on the loose.
There are even predator dogs!
The film boasts a talented cast and some inventive action.
6. Predators
We go back to the central hunting themes in this movie. In it, we follow a diverse group of deadly humans, including a stoic mercenary played by Adrien Brody, who find themselves on an alien planet that serves as a game preserve for the Yautja.
I love how it builds on the lore of the story and makes the world smaller and more thrilling by giving us characters who arc under stress.
7. Alien vs. Predator (2004)
A crossover event that fans had dreamed of for years, this movie finally brought two of sci-fi’s most iconic creatures to the big screen.
And now we’re seeing that marriage play out in the franchise right now.
The concept of a coming-of-age ritual for young Predators in an ancient pyramid beneath Antarctica is intriguing. It’s something we’ve seen echoed in newer installments.
8. Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007)
This is a weirder movie that I think needed some help. I love the idea of a Predalien, and there are some cool set pieces. But it’s at the bottom for a reason.
Summing It All Up
I’m always excited when a new Predator movie comes out, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store as we dive deeper into these worlds.
You probably have your favorite order of these stories, and I’d like to know how you’d rank them.
