2025 Emmys: Complete List of Nominees and Highlights

The 2025 Emmy Awards are just around the corner, and the excitement is building as nominees are announced in various categories. Here’s everything you need to know about this year’s contenders.
2025 Emmys: Complete List of Nominees
The (amazing) race for the 2025 Emmy Awards kicked off early Tuesday morning with the surprise announcement of nominees in two categories: Reality Competition and Talk Series on CBS Mornings.
Reality Competition
In the Reality Competition category, returning champion The Traitors (Peacock) will compete against previous winner RuPaul’s Drag Race (MTV), alongside CBS’s Survivor, The Amazing Race, and Top Chef (Bravo).
Talk Series
CBS, which will air this year’s awards show, also secured a key nomination in the competitive Talk Series category for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Other nominees include ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live and Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, last year’s winner. This year, there are only three slots available due to 13 submissions, leaving out previous nominees like Late Night with Seth Meyers.
Nominee Announcement
The full list of nominations for the 2025 Emmy Awards will be revealed later this morning at 8:30 AM PT. What We Do in the Shadows star Harvey Guillén and Running Point star Brenda Song will announce the nominees alongside TV Academy Chair Cris Abrego during a live ceremony streaming on Emmys.com/nominations.
Comedy Series
In the Comedy Series category, reigning champion Hacks and freshman hit The Studio are expected to lead the nominations. Other anticipated nominees include former champion The Bear, Only Murders in the Building, Abbott Elementary, Shrinking, What We Do in the Shadows, and Nobody Wants This.
Drama Series
For Drama Series, Severance, The Pitt, The White Lotus, and The Last of Us are the frontrunners, followed by Slow Horses, Andor, The Diplomat, and Squid Game.
Limited Series
Expected nominees for Limited Series include Adolescence, The Penguin, Dying for Sex, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, and Disclaimer.
77th Anniversary of the Emmy Awards
This season marks the 77th anniversary of the Emmy Awards. What started as a modest ceremony with five awards at the Hollywood Athletic Club has transformed into television’s biggest night, celebrating excellence in the industry. In the era of “peak TV” with over 600 original scripted series, the nominations honor the writers, directors, performers, and all artisans involved in television and streaming programs over the past year.
Last Year’s Winners
As a reminder, last year’s major Emmy winners included FX’s Shōgun for Best Drama Series, HBO Max’s Hacks for Best Comedy Series, and Netflix’s Baby Reindeer as Best Limited Series. Which of your favorite programs will win this year? Tune in for the live broadcast of the 77th Emmys on September 14 on CBS and Paramount+, hosted by Nate Bargatze.
