Trump to Sue WSJ and Rupert Murdoch Over Epstein Story

Donald Trump has announced plans to take legal action against Rupert Murdoch and the Wall Street Journal regarding a controversial story linked to Jeffrey Epstein.

Donald Trump Plans Legal Action Against Rupert Murdoch and the Wall Street Journal

Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that he intends to sue the Wall Street Journal, News Corp., and its owner Rupert Murdoch over a story related to his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Details of the Controversial Letter

The Journal reported on letters from Epstein’s acquaintances compiled into a birthday album for him in 2003. Among these letters was one attributed to Trump, which reportedly features several lines of typewritten text framed by the outline of a naked woman, drawn with a heavy marker. The letter allegedly includes a squiggly signature of ‘Donald’ below the figure, mimicking pubic hair.

Trump’s Denial and Legal Threat

Upon learning of the letter, Trump denied authorship and threatened legal action against the Journal. His Truth Social post stated, “The Wall Street Journal, and Rupert Murdoch, personally, were warned directly by President Donald J. Trump that the supposed letter they printed by President Trump to Epstein was a FAKE and, if they print it, they will be sued.” He accused the publication of pushing a false, malicious, and defamatory narrative.

Response from News Corp.

A spokesperson for News Corp. did not immediately respond to requests for comment, while a representative from Dow Jones, the publisher of the Journal, remarked, “The story speaks for itself.”

Trump’s Ongoing Frustration with Epstein Coverage

Trump has expressed irritation over the Epstein story since it resurfaced earlier this month, particularly after the Justice Department clarified there was no “Epstein” list and confirmed his death by suicide in 2019. This clarification has sparked backlash among MAGA supporters, with some, including current FBI director Kash Patel, promoting conspiracy theories about Epstein.

Conclusion

Trump has a history of issuing legal threats against media outlets, many of which do not result in litigation. However, he has previously praised Murdoch, calling him “an amazing guy” during a visit to the Oval Office.
