“It symbolizes her acknowledgment of the pain caused to [Nell] and the potential impact on Nan and Jinny,” Hendricks stated. “She feels compelled to set an example for them, despite her own fears.”
Challenges in Court
Tracy’s lawyer, Mr. McCarthy (Corey Johnson), complicates matters for Patti by demanding explicit details and intimidating her witnesses.
“The challenge was balancing the portrayal of her humiliation while discussing her intimate life in front of strangers,” Jakeways remarked. “Christina excelled in that scene.”

Leighton Meester’s character, Eleanor “Nell” Brooks, initially supports Patti from the audience but later reveals her identity as Nan’s biological mother, complicating the case. Nell’s willingness to expose her past with Tracy provides crucial evidence for Patti’s victory.
“For my character, it symbolizes taking a significant step forward,” Meester explained. “Despite my own struggles, I want to help Patti escape her long-standing situation.”
