Sundance Institute Announces 2025 Trans Possibilities Intensive Fellows

EXCLUSIVE: The Sundance Institute has revealed the six artists selected for the 2025 edition of its Trans Possibilities Intensive, which will be held online from July 28–30.

Empowering Transgender Storytellers of Color

Now in its fourth year, the intensive aims to uplift transgender storytellers of color as they develop their projects in a supportive community. This year’s fellows include Logan Alcosiba, Chica Andrade, Rraine Henson, Jameson P. Murray, Jess Waters, and Grace Zhang.

Program Highlights

During the program, fellows will engage in discussions led by trans creatives, participate in fireside chats with their creative advisors, and tackle essential craft areas through group exercises and specialized workshops. They will closely collaborate with seasoned advisors such as Rhys Ernst (Adam), Luis De Filippis (Something You Said Last Night), Éri Sarmet (Vollúpya), and Mars Verrone (Union).

Conclusion of the Intensive

The intensive will culminate in a public conversation streaming on Sundance Collab at 10 a.m. PT on July 30. In addition to the online sessions, fellows will receive project-based grants and tailored creative and professional development opportunities. This year, the Institute received a record number of nominations, highlighting the growing interest in trans-led projects.

“I established this program because I understand that community is essential for both storytelling and being trans,” said Moi Santos, the Institute’s Manager of Equity, Impact, and Belonging. “The Trans Possibilities Intensive embodies this principle by creating intentional, sustainable, and collaborative opportunities. Our fellows and their projects reflect the vital gender diversity that trans storytellers bring to our world.”
