Ramsey Naito Continues as Paramount Animation Head Post-Merger

In a significant development for the animation industry, Ramsey Naito will continue to lead Paramount Animation following Skydance’s acquisition of Paramount Global. This decision marks a pivotal moment for both studios as they navigate their futures post-merger.

Ramsey Naito Remains Head of Paramount Animation

EXCLUSIVE: Sources confirm that Ramsey Naito, President of Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation, will continue to lead Paramount Animation following the completion of Skydance’s acquisition of Paramount Global.

Skydance Animation’s Future

Skydance Animation will not merge with Paramount Animation. Instead, it will remain independent for the time being, with John Lasseter as Animation Head and Holly Edwards as President of Animation. Their primary focus is on the Netflix output deal.

Post-Merger Changes

After the merger, Paramount faces some restructuring challenges. Former co-CEO Brian Robbins managed both Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon. Naito, as head of animation, oversaw projects across both sectors.

In the new corporate structure, animation features will be handled by Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein, while Nickelodeon will be under George Cheeks. Naito will now concentrate solely on animated features for Paramount.

Future of Nickelodeon Animation

It remains uncertain who will take over the Nickelodeon Animation Studio, home to popular franchises like SpongeBob and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Naito’s Achievements at Paramount Animation

Naito took charge of Paramount Animation in September 2021. Under her leadership, the studio released successful titles such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, which grossed nearly $182 million worldwide. Upcoming projects include The Spongebob Movie: The Search for SquarePants and Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie.

Additionally, Naito oversaw projects like Star Trek: Prodigy and a new Monster High animated series.

Legacy at Nickelodeon Animation

During her tenure at Nickelodeon, Naito launched the network’s largest animation slate, with over 70 projects and collaborations with top creators.

Promoted to President of Nickelodeon Animation in 2020, she led the launch of significant franchises, enhancing the SpongeBob SquarePants universe and introducing new series like Kamp Koral and The Patrick Star Show.
