Venice Film Festival Lineup Announcement – Follow Live

Alberto Barbera will announce the lineup for this year’s Venice Film Festival this morning, running from August 27 to September 6. You can follow the announcement livestream below.

Festival Highlights

The festival has already set La Grazia, the latest feature from Italian filmmaker Paolo Sorrentino, to open the event. The film, starring Toni Servillo and Anna Ferzetti, will have its world premiere screening on Wednesday, August 27, in the Sala Grande.

La Grazia, written and directed by Sorrentino, follows the final days of a fictional Italian Presidency, as reported by sources close to the film. This feature is produced by Fremantle, The Apartment, Numero 10, and PiperFilm, with Mubi holding worldwide rights, excluding Italy. The Match Factory is managing international sales.

A Tribute to Kim Novak

Elsewhere, Kim Novak will receive the Venice Film Festival’s Golden Lion for lifetime achievement.

Main Competition Jury

On the main competition jury, previously announced jury president Alexander Payne will be joined by French director and screenwriter Stéphane Brizé; Italian director and screenwriter Maura Delpero; Romanian director, writer, and producer Cristian Mungiu; Iranian director and writer Mohammad Rasoulof; Brazilian actress, writer, and screenwriter Fernanda Torres; and Chinese actress Zhao Tao.

Venice Critics’ Week

In the Venice Critics’ Week sidebar, Julia Jackman’s 100 Nights Of Hero will have its debut screening, starring Emma Corrin, Maika Monroe, Nicholas Galitzine, Charli XCX, Richard E. Grant, Amir El-Masry, and Felicity Jones, and will close the Critics’ Week sidebar.
