Nicole Scherzinger candidly discusses her career journey, fame, and her connection to iconic characters in a recent interview.
NICOLE SCHERZINGER OPENS UP ABOUT HER CAREER
Nicole Scherzinger is candidly discussing her career journey.
The Tony Award-winning Broadway star and singer appeared on Hot Ones with Sean Evans, where she bravely tackled the spicy wings of death.
In the interview, she delved into her new Netflix show, her aspirations for forming a music group, her connection to Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard, the mixed reactions to Cats, and a surprising encounter with Prince.
ON HER NEW NETFLIX SHOW BUILDING THE BAND
Nicole shared her thoughts on the evolution of music:
“Music and everything has changed so much. What worked for bands 10 or even 20 years ago just doesn’t apply today. It’s refreshing to sift through all the noise and focus on the essence of music, compatibility, and chemistry. I love that it’s not about looks or preconceived notions.”
RELATING TO NORMA DESMOND IN SUNSET BOULEVARD
Nicole reflected on her fame with The Pussycat Dolls:
“Norma Desmond represents a woman who was once adored and then lost it all. I can relate to her. I was a pop star with immense fame, but that has faded. I’ve been working since I was young, and I feel like time has slipped away. It’s been 20 years since the Dolls. Can you believe it?”
MENTORING ON COMPETITION SHOWS
Nicole discussed her approach to mentoring:
“Initially, I couldn’t bear to crush dreams. I’d say no means not now. But now, I’m a bit jaded. I believe if you’re truly talented, your moment will come. It’s all about timing and finding the right path.”
ON THE MIXED RECEPTION OF CATS
Nicole shared her thoughts on the show:
“My best friend, a genius, saw me in Cats and asked, ‘What’s a Jellicle cat?’ You either get it or you don’t. I was going through a tough breakup while performing Grizabella, who longs for rebirth. Most people leave confused, and that’s okay.”
A FUNNY ENCOUNTER WITH PRINCE
Nicole recounted a humorous moment with Prince:
“At his Vegas show, my friends and I were excited to see him perform. Suddenly, we heard a ‘psst’ and saw a bush moving. To our surprise, Prince was hiding behind it, trying to get my attention. He looked incredible, fully dressed, and ready to impress!”
