Andy Samberg’s ‘Digman!’ Season 2 Premiere Delayed to July 23

The highly anticipated season two of Andy Samberg’s animated series Digman! has faced a delay, now set to premiere on July 23, 2023.

Andy Samberg’s ‘Digman!’ Season 2 Premiere Delayed

Where South Park goes, Digman! follows — literally.

New Premiere Date for ‘Digman!’

The season two premiere of Andy Samberg’s Digman! has been postponed by two weeks to Wednesday, July 23, aligning with the delayed season 27 premiere of South Park. Digman! will air on Comedy Central at 10:30 p.m., immediately following South Park at 10.

Reasons Behind the Delay

The delay of South Park’s season 27 premiere was announced on Wednesday amidst a streaming-rights dispute between creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and the parent company, Paramount Global.

Parker and Stone expressed their dissatisfaction with the delay, stating, “This merger is a shitshow and it’s messing up South Park. We are at the studio working on new episodes and we hope the fans get to see them somehow,” according to a tweet from South Park’s official X profile.

Impact of the Merger

Originally, both South Park and Digman! were set to premiere their new seasons on Wednesday, July 9. The merger involving David Ellison’s Skydance and Paramount Global is expected to finalize by July 6, though the deadline may be extended.

Parker and Stone allege that incoming Skydance-Paramount president Jeff Shell is attempting to undermine external bids for South Park’s digital rights, which are retained by Paramount for another two years. They believe Shell aims to secure South Park’s library and new episodes for the combined company, regardless of the financial implications for their partnership with Paramount, South Park Digital Studios.
