Lana Parrilla Embraces Once Upon a Time Revival Possibility

Lana Parrilla has shifted her stance on the possibility of a Once Upon a Time revival, now expressing enthusiasm for the idea.
Lana Parrilla Now Open to Once Upon a Time Revival
After previously opposing the idea, Lana Parrilla has revealed her willingness to embrace a revival of Once Upon a Time. With Jennifer Morrison suggesting that the series deserves a reboot and Colin O’Donoghue not dismissing the concept, Parrilla’s comments are intriguing.
As a show that inspired passionate fan theories, Once Upon a Time garnered a dedicated following. The actors involved expressed a deep appreciation for their roles during and after the series aired.
In her appearance on the I’ve Never Said This Before With Tommy DiDario podcast, Parrilla shared her reflections on what Once Upon a Time meant to her. Her gratitude for the experience has led her to consider the possibility of a revival. Here are her thoughts:
“I’ve always had mixed feelings about it because the series ran for so long. I was like, I don’t know what more we can tell; these characters have been so deeply fleshed out. But, there’s always more stories. And that character has a huge piece of my heart, so I would be open to it for sure.
What I forgot about over the years is how great the writing is. I mean, I know the writing is great; it has to start with that for a show to be successful. But I forgot how many quotes were great in it and how they were like more lessons for people. People grew from these characters and their lives changed, and that was something I don’t think I would’ve understood had I not been meeting the fans over the years like I do.
I would go back to (creators) Adam (Horowitz) and Eddie (Kitsis) and say, “Do you guys realize what you’ve done?” It’s changed lives. That’s the first time I’ve ever been a part of something that magical. It will always hold a dear place in my heart. Once Upon a Time is a very special show.”
What Lana Parrilla’s Interest in a Once Upon a Time Revival Means
For a Once Upon a Time revival to materialize, two key factors must align. Firstly, a significant number of the original cast must express interest in reprising their roles. Many past attempts to revive beloved series have faltered due to a lack of actor commitment.
Lana Parrilla’s openness to returning is a substantial step forward. Given her pivotal role as Regina Mills and the Evil Queen, it’s challenging to envision a revival without her.

In addition to Parrilla, both Jennifer Morrison and Colin O’Donoghue have shown interest in a revival, and Ginnifer Goodwin has also publicly supported the idea. This trend suggests that many Once Upon a Time stars are willing to return to their roles.
The second requirement for a revival is backing from a network or streaming service. Currently, there has been no indication that ABC is keen on reviving Once Upon a Time.
However, given the show’s passionate fanbase and the recent trend of networks embracing revivals, ABC might reconsider. Additionally, the show could potentially return as a Disney+ series, as all seasons are available on the platform.
Our Take on Whether There Should Be a Once Upon a Time Revival
With a devoted fanbase longing for a show like Once Upon a Time, it’s difficult to oppose the idea of a revival. However, I believe that a revival may not be the best course of action.
The conclusion of Once Upon a Time in its seventh season wrapped up the narrative satisfactorily, leaving little room for further plot development. Additionally, the often-overlooked spinoff, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, was canceled after just one season.
Nonetheless, if a compelling storyline emerges or new episodes are produced, I would certainly be interested in watching.
