As anticipation builds for From Season 4, fans are left with lingering questions from the previous season. Here are the top five burning inquiries that need answers.
From Season 4: 5 Burning Questions We Need Answered
From has quietly become one of the most gripping sci-fi horror series on television since its debut on MGM+ in 2022. After its popular third season wrapped last year, the streamer was quick to renew it for a fourth season, which we hope will premiere in 2026.
Created by John Griffin and executive produced by Lost’s Jack Bender and Jeff Pinkner, the series follows the residents of a mysterious small town that traps anyone who enters, forcing them to contend with terrifying creatures that only emerge after dark.
Now three seasons in, From has built a loyal fan-base hooked on its eerie atmosphere, rich mythology, and endless mysteries. Season 3 left viewers with more questions than answers, and with Season 4 officially on the way, theories are already swirling.
We’ve rounded up the 5 burning questions fans are dying to see answered when From returns.
1. Who is The Man in Yellow?
The Season 3 finale introduces a nameless character fans have dubbed “The Man in Yellow,” since he’s literally a man wearing a yellow suit. This mysterious new figure almost immediately rips out Jim’s throat, pausing only to tell him “this didn’t have to happen,” and claiming his death is the result of his wife Tabitha’s relentless pursuit of knowledge.
Since The Man in Yellow is present in the daytime, we can assume he’s something different from all the other creatures we’ve seen. He also seems to know what’s really happening in town, suggesting he might be the show’s real overarching villain. With the introduction of a time-travel element in Season 3, the possibilities for his true identity grow even more. This man could be just about anyone, even someone we’ve already met (from the future!), or perhaps he’s meant to be the Devil.
2. Are other townsfolk reincarnated versions of previous residents?
From Season 3 also reveals that reincarnation is a real thing in this world. Not only do we get confirmation that Tabitha is really Miranda reborn, but we also find out that Jade is actually Christopher. Given this information, it’s almost certain that other people in town are also reincarnated souls.
3. How was Smiley able to return?
Poor Fatima finally gives birth to her baby after being held in captivity by Elgin. The mysterious kimono-wearing woman assists her in the delivery of some kind of sac, which she then carries into the caverns beneath the town where the monsters live. Boyd follows her down the hatch just in time to see Smiley, who Boyd previously killed in Season 2, reborn.

Fatima learns the secret behind the monsters’ immortality: they once sacrificed their children for it. But we still don’t know exactly how it works, or whether the cycle can be stopped.
4. Who is the mysterious woman in the kimono?
We’ve seen the Kimono Woman appear a few times throughout the show as a ghost who only Elgin can see. During the Season 3 finale, she acts as a herald for Smiley’s return, assisting in his delivery. There are no hints as to the real identity of this woman, but since Fatima can see and feel her, she’s likely not an apparition.
That said, her sunken face and skeletal features set her apart from the other monsters. Perhaps she’s working with the Man in Yellow to continue facilitating the cycle of immortality.
5. What is Julie’s role in the story?
Julie shows up toward the end of the finale sporting a much shorter hairdo than we’re used to: a clear visual cue that this Julie is from the future. She tries to save her father, Jim, from his cruel fate at the hands of the Man in Yellow, but she arrives too late.
Knowing Julie can legitimately time travel makes it seem like she will have a more significant role moving forward. It also raises questions as to whether or not other people in the town can do the same. How long has Julie been doing this? Has she tried saving her dad before? Is she trapped in a time loop? Is the whole town?
