BoulderLight’s Recent Success
For BoulderLight, Weapons marked a reunion with Cregger following his breakout project, the horror thriller Barbarian. Although it grossed around $45M worldwide, the film’s success led to a bidding war for Cregger’s follow-up, which landed at New Line. Weapons tells the story of a town grappling with the sudden disappearance of 17 schoolchildren from one teacher’s class. Talks for a prequel exploring the origins of the malevolent force at the film’s center are already underway.
Future Projects and Collaborations
While BoulderLight’s Margules and Lifshitz have been active producers for over a decade, they have recently gained recognition as significant players in the genre space, with Jason Blum predicting their banner as “the next Blumhouse.” With a first-look deal at New Line, the company has shown a keen interest in comedy, producing the hit A24 film Friendship starring Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd. Other credits include The Vigil, Becky, and Anna Kendrick’s directorial debut Woman of the Hour. They are also working on Buddy, a mysterious indie horror film, and have unveiled a new Amityville movie in development.
