In the highly anticipated Season 2 of Wednesday, the dynamics between characters deepen as Emma Myers and Joy Sunday share insights on their roles and the mysterious Principal Dort.

Wednesday Season 2: Emma Myers and Joy Sunday Discuss Principal Dort’s Mysterious Intentions

SPOILER ALERT: This post lightly spoils Wednesday Season 2 Part 1.

In Wednesday Season 2, Emma Myers’ Enid Sinclair and Joy Sunday’s Bianca Barclay find themselves on diverging paths, yet both actresses share concerns about the suspicious behavior of Principal Dort (Steve Buscemi).

In a recent interview with Deadline, Buscemi characterized Dort, who takes over from the late Larissa Weems (Gwendoline Christie) as the head of Nevermore Academy, as having a “nefarious reason” behind many of his decisions, including the controversial abolition of The Nightshades, a Secret Society integral to Wednesday and Enid’s friend group.

“It’s certainly one of the first instances where [Bianca] really starts to doubt Principal Dort’s intentions, especially since The Nightshades played such a crucial role in protecting Nevermore,” Sunday explained. “His decision to disband it, coupled with his demands of her, significantly undermines her trust.”

Enid, who embraced her werewolf identity at the end of Season 1, felt betrayed to discover she was the only one unaware of the clandestine group that invited Wednesday to pledge, which she ultimately declined.

“Enid is understandably upset. She finally feels ready to join, having embraced her wolf side and found her pack, only to have the opportunity snatched away,” Myers noted. “It’s frustrating for her, as it seems like just when she’s about to achieve something, it gets taken away.”

In the interview below, Myers discusses her complex dynamic with Wednesday, especially with the introduction of a fangirl eager to impress the savior of Nevermore. Meanwhile, Sunday reflects on her evolving relationship with her mother and the one she develops with Morticia, hinting at exciting developments in Part 2 following Bianca’s blackmail.

Exploring Enid and Wednesday’s Evolving Bond

DEADLINE: Emma, Enid faces a challenging fate this season, yet a tension grows between her and Wednesday. How do you balance this with their deep bond?

EMMA MYERS: Enid feels replaced by Agnes, who is eager to impress Wednesday and often threatens her. This insecurity complicates their friendship, as Enid doesn’t understand why Wednesday is distancing herself. Unbeknownst to her, it’s due to a premonition that Wednesday has. This dynamic is intriguing to explore in the new season, as we haven’t seen them in this light before.

Bianca’s Struggles with Principal Dort

DEADLINE: Joy, Bianca is juggling numerous challenges this semester with Principal Dort and her mother. How did you develop her backstory and her relationship with Morticia?

JOY SUNDAY: In Season 1, Bianca was shielded from confronting issues with her mother until they became unavoidable. In Season 2, she must face the reality of her power and her complicated relationship with her mother, which has yet to flourish.

Working closely with Gracy [Goldman], we explored the nuances of that relationship to ensure Bianca’s character evolves throughout the season. Collaborating with Catherine was pivotal, as it allowed Bianca to reflect on what her relationship with her mother could be, influencing her interactions with Gabrielle.

Looking Ahead: Justice for Bianca?

DEADLINE: With Dort blackmailing Bianca, can we expect to see her find justice in Part 2?

SUNDAY: While I can’t reveal too much, I believe that what goes around comes around, and I’m excited for audiences to see how Bianca navigates her situation.
