Khloe Kardashian Becomes Caretaker for Tristan Thompson’s Brother Amari
Khloe Kardashian has revealed that she has taken on the role of primary caretaker for ex Tristan Thompson‘s brother, Amari.
In a recent episode of her podcast, Khloe in Wonder Land, released on July 30, the 41-year-old reality star discussed her decision to help Amari, who is 18 years old, following the tragic passing of their mother, Andrea, in January 2023.
Understanding Amari’s Condition
“For those who don’t know, Tristan has a younger brother who is 18 years old and severely disabled. Amari has LGS (Lennox-Gastaut syndrome), a form of epilepsy, and he cannot walk or talk,” Khloe explained. She emphasized that Andrea was “the sole caretaker for Amari” while they lived in Canada, and after her death, “we — me, Tristan, my whole family — took Amari back with us to the States.”
Khloe Steps Up
After Andrea’s passing, Tristan was granted guardianship of Amari. However, due to his demanding NBA schedule, he is unable to care for his brother full-time. “Tristan is in the NBA, and he is in a different state literally every other day. It’s not conducive for Amari to travel that much,” Khloe stated, noting that Amari experiences multiple seizures daily.
“So Amari stays in LA with me, and I have chosen to take care of him because it’s not good for him to travel,” she added.
Creating a Family Environment
Khloe expressed her desire to have Amari be a part of her family. She praised the “two sensational caretakers” who assist with Amari and emphasized their goal to provide him with the best life possible.
She also discussed the importance of exposing her children, True, 7, and Tatum, 3, to different types of people. “It teaches everyone compassion and understanding. Amari is disabled, but he’s also just like us,” she explained.

“I love seeing how Amari lights up around the kids. He may not talk verbally, but he expresses himself in other ways,” Khloe continued, expressing pride in having Amari in her life.
Addressing Criticism
During the podcast, Khloe addressed questions regarding her decision to help Amari despite no longer being romantically involved with Tristan. “People often ask why I would do this. My relationship with Andrea was separate from my relationship with Tristan,” she clarified.
She recalled her close friendship with Andrea, stating, “I was involved in Amari’s medical care when Andrea was alive. My commitment to her and Amari remains strong, regardless of my relationship with Tristan.”
