‘Outlander’ SDCC: Starz Unveils First Look at 8th & Final Season
Outlander fans filled Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, where series executive producers Matthew B. Roberts, Maril Davis, and star Sam Heughan took the stage alongside co-stars Sophie Skelton (Brianna MacKenzie) and Richard Rankin (Roger MacKenzie).
Teaser Trailer and Droughtlander Update
Starz released an exciting teaser trailer, taking fans back to where the journey began. However, much to the audience’s dismay, Droughtlander will persist until early 2026. Following the cliffhanger of Season 7, the trailer hints at Jamie Fraser’s (Heughan) potential fate.
Caitríona Balfe’s Special Message
Unfortunately, Caitríona Balfe, who has portrayed Claire Fraser since the show’s inception, was unable to attend due to filming a new project. She sent a heartfelt pre-recorded message that resonated with fans.
“I’m sorry I’m not there with you. I really wish I could be, but unfortunately, I’m filming something at the moment, and the schedule just wouldn’t allow it. So I offer my sincerest apologies. But I know that you’re in very, very capable hands with Sam, Sophie, Richard, Marin, and Matt. I’m sending you all love,” she expressed.
Panel Highlights and Fan Engagement
Aisha Tyler moderated the panel, energizing the audience for the final farewell. A fan’s shout-out to Heughan elicited laughter, with Tyler revealing, “Sam, my wife loves you!” Heughan humorously suggested that Starz should create t-shirts for it.
