Italy’s MIA Market has announced its 2025 line-up, showcasing 15 drama series selected for its pitching competition.

Event Details

The event, hosted at Rome’s Palazzo Barberini and Cinema Barberini, will take place from October 6-10. This year, it received nearly 500 submissions from 81 countries for its Co-Production Market and Pitching Forum, from which 62 projects were selected across animation, documentaries, drama (TV series), and film.

Drama Co-Production Market & Pitching Forum

The Drama Co-Production Market & Pitching Forum will present a curated selection of 15 series projects from 12 countries, evaluated by industry experts including Lauren Stein, Executive Vice President & Head of Creative Affairs at Sony Pictures Television, and others.

Highlighted Projects

Among the notable projects is Rage, directed by Xavier Dolan, set in early 1980s Paris, exploring the rise of the skinhead movement. Another intriguing project is Hitler’s Horses: An Arthur Brand Story, a crime series produced by Femke Wolting, based on true-life art investigations.

Additionally, Dyouf (Guests), a dramedy from the DFI Series Lab, follows a man returning to his Bedouin village in Palestine to help manage a guesthouse.

From the UK, Plunder, an art thief thriller, and Writer’s Retreat, set in a luxury retreat in Spain, are also part of the selection.

Other projects include The Last Goddess from the Czech Republic, Hunting For Ghosts from Finland, and Aïnta! from Greece, showcasing a diverse range of narratives.

Documentaries and Animation

The documentary selections feature Baseball Island, exploring Curaçao’s passion for baseball, and Building Venice from Italy. The animation section includes seven features and nine TV projects, highlighting the creative diversity of the industry.

Additional Highlights

Other notable initiatives include a Book Adaptation Forum, Apollo Series training initiative, UNBOX | Short Film Days, and various workshops and networking sessions. The previous edition attracted 2,800 participants, marking a 10% increase year-on-year.
